Duplex steels are such steels that have a two-phase structure of ferritic and austenitic portions. As a result, the characteristics of chromium and chromium nickel steels are combined. Duplex steels therefore show a higher strength than the austenitic steels. At the same time, they are characterised by a higher ductility.
